Legislative Stream

The CDP Legislative Stream is for clerks and deputy clerks looking to hone their legislative expertise and advance their municipal careers. Enroll to enhance your clerk capabilities, expand your legislative acumen, and network of sector administrative professionals.

Prerequisites

Participants in the Legislative Stream must have:

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a clerk or deputy clerk in Ontario
  • Completed the Municipal Administration Program (MAP)
  • Experience in or ability to gain experience, relevant to the legislative role, in the following competencies for the Accredited Ontario Municipal Clerk (AOMC) designation:
    • Education
    • Experience
    • Professional Contributions

Participants in the CDP must also accept the program's Terms & Conditions upon application.

Package Overview

Upon successful completion of the package, participants will receive:

  • AMCTO Municipal Law Program (MLP) certificate
  • AMCTO Municipal Clerks Institute Level 1 certificate
  • AMCTO Municipal Clerks Institute Level 2 certificate
  • AMCTO Parliamentary Meeting Protocol Course (PMPC) certificate 
  • Professional development hours for participation in three (3) AMCTO annual Forums
  • One-on-one professional development as a Mentee or Mentor in the AMCTO Mentorship Program
  • Granting of the Accredited Ontario Municipal Clerk (AOMC) designation by the AMCTO Board of Directors
How to Apply

Applications for the Career Development Packages are now closed for 2025. Applications will re-open in July 2026. Please note that there are only 10 spots available within each stream — all applications will be reviewed following the deadline on a first-come, first-served basis. As a reminder, CDPs require participants' full attention, time commitment, and agreed upon employer support.
