We are currently seeking individuals who would be interested in paid instructional and marking opportunities in 2022-2023, in the following programs and subject areas:
Municipal Accounting and Finance Program (MAFP)
- Unit 2: Financial planning and asset management (instructor)
Municipal Administration Program (MAP)
- Unit 1: Introduction to local government (marker)
- Unit 2: Municipal administrative structure (marker)
- Unit 3: Municipal financial management (marker)
- Unit 4: Management in the municipality (marker)
- Unit 1: Introduction to municipal law (marker)
- Unit 2: Municipal torts (marker)
- Unit 3: Municipal contracts (marker)
- Unit 4: Municipal land-related law (marker)
We also welcome expressions of interest in teaching for our Employment Law and Human Resources Program (HR), Municipal Clerks Institute (MCI), and Executive Diploma in Municipal Management (EDMM) program in 2023 and 2024. While there are no immediate vacancies in these programs, our education team will review expressions of interest on a rolling basis to be considered when opportunities become available.
Qualifications
- Instructors must have a minimum of five years’ experience in municipal administration at the management level or equivalent professional expertise, as well as excellent speaking and discussion facilitation skills. Marking and online teaching experience is a plus.
- Markers must have a minimum of five years’ recent working and/or consulting experience in the municipal sector in an area that relates to the specific materials to be marked. Markers must also have excellent written communication skills and know how to provide specific, constructive feedback on written work. Marking experience is a plus.
- Preference will be given to AMCTO members.

Applications will be reviewed following the application deadline, and candidates will be evaluated based on the qualifications listed above. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by a member of the AMCTO education team by June 30, 2022. Shortlisted candidates applying to mark and teach for MAP, MAFP, or MLP will be asked to complete a marking exercise, and successful candidates will be required to participate in training provided by AMCTO.
