Call for Volunteers: 2026 Municipal Elections Working Group

Every election cycle, the Municipal Elections Working Group assists in the development and review of AMCTO Municipal Elections Training Program materials and learning modules in order to support members and clerks across the province on matters related to municipal elections planning, legislation and policy, council relations and orientations.

We are currently seeking volunteers for our 2026 Municipal Elections Working Group. This Working Group is comprised of various municipal officials and election experts that help guide, support and review the development of resources and training surrounding the 2026 municipal elections in Ontario. 

Members of the Working Group will:

  • Support the revision of AMCTO’s Municipal Elections Calendar
  • Support the revision of the AMCTO Municipal Elections Training Guide
  • Support the development of a comprehensive virtual online and in-person elections training program
  • Provide feedback and insights to ensure that all elections training resources meet the needs of municipal staff across the province

Working Group members must:

  • Be AMCTO members in good standing
  • Have first-hand knowledge and experience in administering municipal elections in Ontario within the past eight (8) years 
  • Be active participants and attend a minimum of four (4) meetings in total (see further details regarding time commitment and responsibilities below)

The Elections Working Group meets at least once a month, and members may sometimes have items to review outside of meeting hours. Working group members may also participate in Q&A sessions, on-site training, and in training videos. The time commitment is approximately 2-3 hours a month.
