Township of Wollaston

The Township of Wollaston, located in Hastings County, is seeking a Municipal Clerk to fulfill statutory duties as set out in the Municipal Act and other legislation. The Clerk will oversee and direct the Township Clerk’s functions to ensure the effective provision of legislative services within the Clerk’s Office, including meeting management for Council and its Committees, the Municipal Elections Process pursuant to the Municipal Elections Act, Record and Information Management, administration of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other assigned responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting a mutually collaborative work environment with the Municipal Treasurer and all Township staff. The Clerk reports to Council and will report to the Treasurer for administrative matters. This position also serve as the Deputy Treasurer.

 Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent level of experience.
  • Previous experience as a municipal clerk or deputy clerk.
  • Computer knowledge; particularly for Microsoft Office, Munisoft & iCompass.
  • Advanced understanding of policies and legislative requirements related to Ontario municipalities, municipal by-laws, government administration, Council process and procedural activities, including but not limited to the following: Municipal Act; Municipal Elections Act; Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Lottery Licensing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and sensitive situations.

Job Term: Full time (35 hours/week)
