Dear valued AMCTO members,
Earlier this week, I started in my new role as Executive Director with AMCTO. Throughout my 20+ year career, both inside and on the periphery of the municipal sector, I have had great admiration for the accomplishments of the AMCTO and the role we have played in moving the municipal sector forward. At the forefront of this valuable work has been retiring Executive Director, Andy Koopmans. I want to again thank Andy for his leadership during his time with the Association and for personally helping me transition into the Executive Director role.
As I highlighted in our announcement, I am honored to be provided with the opportunity to lead AMCTO, an organization that has been fundamental in the growth of municipal professionals. Now, more than ever, municipal employees need AMCTO to provide programs, services and knowledge that will help them overcome today’s obstacles and to plan for the future. That, I believe, is where you and I come in!
The AMCTO staff and Board are committed to our mission “to provide professional development, engagement opportunities, advocacy and leadership in the sector which strengthens and supports the capabilities and performance of municipal professionals.”
In order for us to meet this mission, we as an organization need to look at how we deliver our programs and services and evolve to better serve the membership of today and tomorrow. In my role as Executive Director, I hope to lead this evolution to better meet your needs as members. In order to make these necessary changes, we need you!
The strength of AMCTO has been, and always will be, its members. With the municipal environment constantly changing, it is so important that we hear from you about how we can help you adapt and grow. With that thought in mind, I want to take this opportunity to invite you to engage with the AMCTO.
In 2021, take the time to reach out to AMCTO Board/Zone/Staff members and let them know how the Association can continually improve to meet your needs and the needs of your municipality. Better yet, consider active participation in our various boards, committees, advisory groups and other volunteer opportunities. Our Association grows stronger with each and every member engagement.
Thank you to all those members who have reached out already. I look forward to meeting many of you, either virtually or in-person, over the coming months.
Sincerely, |
