Check your inboxes folks. In keeping with the commitment made by the premier at the 2020 AMO Conference, on October 29th, the Province confirmed the maintenance of its $500 million funding envelope for the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF) for 2021.
In 2021, the fund will be allocated to 389 municipalities across Ontario.
The 2021 OMPF is also providing $5 million to further support northern and rural municipalities. This includes:
- A $2 million increase to the Rural Communities Grants to assist rural municipalities with the highest level of farmland (a grant total of $152 million now); and
- A $3 million increase to the Northern and Rural Fiscal Circumstances Grant to provide additional support for fiscal challenges (a grant total of $92 million now).
In our Fall Pre-Budget submission, we recommended that these funding levels continue into 2022. Check back for more information coming out of
next week's Fall Budget.
