Ontario Investing $6 Million in Frontline Community Safety Initiatives

Ontario Premier Doug Ford yesterday announced that the Ministry of the Solicitor General will open up applications this week for the Proceeds of Crime – Front-Line Policing (POC-FLP) Grant. A total of $6 million will be invested from 2020 to 2023 with the grant using assets forfeited by the provincial and federal governments during criminal prosecutions.

Police services applying under this grant will be required to partner with at least two community organizations from different sectors in an effort to “encourage multi-sectoral collaboration”.

Funding will be focused on one or more of the following three key priorities:

  • Gun and gang violence

  • Sexual violence and harassment

  • Human trafficking


Municipal, provincial, and First- Nations police service, are eligible to apply for funding. Successful applicants will be announced in the spring of 2020.
