This week the government announced that it would repeal elements of Bill 148, the Fair Workplaces Better Jobs Act, passed by the previous government. Specifically, the government announced that it will maintain Ontario's minimum wage at $14 per hour (until 2020 when increases will be tied to inflation), eliminate two mandatory paid sick days and 10 personal emergency leave days, replacing them with three days for personal illness, two for bereavement and three for family responsibilities. The bill also eliminates pay-equity for part-time and casual workers.
