Open Call - COVID-19 Resource

Open Call is a cross-sector collaboration between the Canadian Digital Service, the Canada School of Public Service, and the nonprofit team at Code for Canada. This is an immediately available resource for municipalities today.

Together, they have curated a catalogue of free digital tools that are easy for all governments to use (and reuse) to address common challenges associated with COVID-19. In addition, there is free, hands-on technical support to help government teams adapt and deploy those tools in their jurisdictions — there's no procurement or IT expertise necessary.

The Open Call catalogue is growing every day; you can find the following tools to help government:

  • Releasing a COVID-19 self-assessment,
  • Communicating more effectively with residents during the pandemic,
  • Build data visualizations, match resources, or recruit volunteers.
  • Find many of the apps are already being used by governments in Canada, or around the world.

All of the tools in the catalogue are open source, which means they can be easily modified to meet unique needs or requirements. This not only allows governments to roll out services to residents faster, but also makes it possible to share their solutions with other communities instead of working in silos.

The intent is to get Open Call into the hands of as many government administrators as possible.
