AMO Launching a Municipal Cannabis Cost Survey

2019-03-28 6:01:42 PM

The Association of Municipalities Ontario (AMO) is launching a Municipal Cannabis Cost Survey to monitor and evaluate the impacts of cannabis legalization. This survey will gather data on the fiscal impacts of recreational cannabis legalization, including trends in costs over time. AMO’s aim is to conduct subsequent surveys for at least 2019 and 2020 to track data trends.

As this survey relates to costs or cost implications, a municipality’s Treasurer may be best suited to fill out this survey. To facilitate this, your Treasurer’s AMO website login is needed to access the survey.

Municipal service costs, including policing, public health, bylaw enforcement, paramedic services, and others, will increase as a result of cannabis legalization. The responses from this survey will help AMO capture relevant data and inform their discussions with the provincial and federal governments on the use of future public cannabis revenues and meeting community needs.

Please complete this survey by Friday April 12, 2019.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Craig Reid, Senior Advisor (creid@amo.on.ca) or Leslie Muñoz, Policy Advisor (lmunoz@amo.on.ca).
