The government is proposing two new regulatory amendments to the Municipal Act as part of its updated Long-term Affordable Housing Strategy (LTAHS). The first would allow all municipalities (not just service manager municipalities) to enter into municipal housing capital facilities agreements and provide the necessary related financial assistance. A second related amendment would expand municipalities' ability to provide financial assistance to municipal services corporations to allow them to facilitate affordable housing.
