The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) has prepared a guide on best-practices for managing excess soil. The guide outlines the ministry's expectations for managing excess soil from development or construction in way that is environmentally sustainable and protects the natural environment.

MOECC is currently working on a review of the need for new policy related to excess soil management. In the meantime, the Ministry is encouraging municipalities to follow these best-practices.
