Minister Clark Announces Service Delivery Modernization Investment

Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Steve Clark, announced yesterday that up to $3.9 million will be invested to help 42 small and rural municipalities modernize service delivery. Provided through the Municipal Modernization Program, Minister Clark says the fund will support a variety of projects, such as helping municipalities streamline their local development approval processes and modernize permitting systems.

The Municipal Modernization Program was introduced in November of last year and aims to assist municipalities through 2022-2023 to help find service delivery efficiencies and lower costs. With a total fund of $125 million, the program is application-based and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Back in January at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association's (ROMA) annual conference, Minister Clark announced that all 27 joint funding applications made under the program had been approved.
