Federal Government Indicates Possible Delay to Cannabis Legalization

2018-02-09 8:54:15 AM

Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor announced earlier this week that consumers may not be able to purchase legal cannabis by the government's previously-announced July 1st deadline. According to Ottawa, the delay is the result of the bill's slow passage through the Senate and the need to give industry time to adapt to strict packaging rules and allow them to legally ship their products to provincially regulated distribution outlets. While it won't give an exact date, the federal government still hopes to have legal cannabis on the shelves by sometime in July.
