Province Announces Policing Consultations

The government of Ontario announced last week that it is launching consultations on a new community policing strategy. Specifically the consultations will focus on the following themes:

  • Promoting more collaborative partnerships between the policy and civil society
  • Improving interactions between the police and vulnerable peoples
  • Clarifying the duties of police, and looking for ways to modernize services
  • Enhancing accountability and strengthening civilian governance of police services
Consultations will be held in the following locations
  • February 18-London
  • February 23- Newmarket
  • February 24-Hamilton
  • March 1-Thunder Bay
  • March 7-Sault Ste Marie
  • March 10-Toronto
  • March 21-Cobourg
  • April 2-Ottawa
