AMCTO staff were invited to join various Mayors and CAOs from across the Province to participate in Associate Minister Sarkaria’s Roundtable on Red Tape and Burden reduction in the sector during last week's AMO Conference.

As part of this invitation, AMCTO facilitated the involvement of experts from the sector who assisted in the Province-wide effort to reduce the municipal reporting burden.  This roundtable scratched the surface of the wide ranging issues around red tape and burden reduction facing the sector.

Minister Sakaria is placing high priority on modernizing regulations to “reduce duplication, streamlining processes, and empowering municipalities”.

This roundtable is in light of the government’s recent reporting burden reductions – one of AMCTO’s key advocacy priorities.

Key participants of this roundtable included:

  • London Mayor – Ed Holder

  • Kitchener Mayor – Barry Vrbanovic

  • Mississauga Mayor – Bonnie Crombie

  • MMAH PA – Parm Gill

  • MMAH PA – Jim McDonnell
