Government Assembles Team for Economic Recovery Post-COVID19

2020-04-09 2:32:17 PM

Premier Ford has today announced the creation of an Ontario Jobs and Recovery Committee, which will focus on reviving the province’s economy in preparation of a post-COVID19 world. Specifically, the committee will develop an economic growth stimulus and job-creation plan once the virus has been contained.

Chaired by the Minister of Finance, the Committee will include the President of the Treasury Board, and the Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction, among others.

The committee will consult with municipal leaders, business associations, chambers of commerce, small business owners, and others to assess the impact of COVID-19 on the economy and how to move forward. There is no timeline as of yet on when this will begin.

This announcement comes in light of Statistics Canada releasing its monthly job numbers, which included a decrease of 402,800 jobs in the province.
