Did you know that by January 1, 2021 public sector organizations must ensure their web content is fully accessible and compliant with Ontario’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Join us to learn how to ensure your organization’s documents and web content is set-up to be fully accessible. Organizations across Ontario are required to comply with accessibility standards under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.

What you will learn:

  • An overview of AODA Standards (with key focus on Information and Communication)
  • How to develop a Case for Change for Creating Accessible Documents
  • How to complete your accessibility compliance report
  • Best practices for how to create accessible documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Adobe Portable Document Formats (PDFs)

Why attend:
  • To understand the importance of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Standards and compliance related to the provincial goal of legislating an accessible Ontario
  • To feel empowered to be an accessibility champion in your organization – especially when it comes to creating accessible documents

Who should attend:
  • This workshop is ideal for all municipal employees, leaders and managers who develop communications and web content using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and who are committed to becoming champions for accessibility
  • Individuals who are inclined to experience a deeper dive into various functions embedded in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat PDF, which assist in document creation and provide guidance on how to make documents accessible

We recognize our own responsibility as a non-profit organization in promoting and adhering to accessibility standards. As we continue to adapt and grow many of our program offerings, we are committed to ensuring our products and programs moving forward are accessible. We appreciate your patience and support as we work toward meeting this goal.
